Why Choose a Special Needs Harness?

Standard seat belts are not suitable for many passengers with special needs. In some cases, the wearer may wriggle out of position or into a posture where the seat belt becomes unsafe.

Our Special Needs “H” Harness offers additional support and restraint to keep passengers secure, comfortable, and safely positioned throughout travel.

These harnesses are not a substitute for a standard seat belt or child restraint and should only be used for passengers with special needs.

We recommend consulting with your Case Worker or Occupational Therapist to ensure compliance with AS4370 – Restraint of children with disabilities or medical conditions in motor vehicles.

Product Overview

The H Harness is designed to provide safety, comfort, and simplicity.
It works in combination with your vehicle’s existing seat belt, offering extra stability and reassurance for both passengers and carers.

✅ Comfort-Focused Design – Chest strap wraps comfortably around the torso and fastens via D-rings at each side.
✅ Safe & Secure Fit – Used with the vehicle’s lap seat belt in the centre rear seat position for optimal protection.
✅ Customisable – Adjustable loops allow the chest and seat belt positions to be fine-tuned for a tailored fit.

To ensure the best fit and ongoing comfort, the H Harness is available in three sizes suitable for both cars and buses:

Fitting & Safety Notes

• The harness should fit snugly, without being restrictive.

• Straps should rest over bony areas (not soft tissue).

• The chest strap should be positioned across the centre of the breastbone.

• The seat belt should sit securely over the hip bones.

• Two sets of loops at the back allow adjustment of the chest strap height.

• Two sets of loops at the front allow adjustment of the seat belt position.
